Which exchanges may legally serve EU clients now that the 1 July 2026 deadline has passed. Verified against the ESMA register, with entity, country and date for each. Never guessed.
As of 7/3/2026, of 50 tracked exchanges, 12 hold a full MiCA/CASP licence for the EU and 4 are not in the ESMA register. A licence from one member state passports across the whole EU and EEA.

What is MiCA?
MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) is the EU regulation that unifies rules for crypto providers (CASPs). An exchange needs authorisation from a national regulator, which then applies across the whole EU.
From when do exchanges need a MiCA licence?
The transition period ended on 1 July 2026. After that date, an exchange without full CASP authorisation cannot legally serve EU clients.
Which exchanges have a MiCA licence?
In our record as of the verification date: Bitstamp by Robinhood, Bitvavo, Bybit, Bybit EU, Coinbase Exchange, Crypto.com Exchange, Gate, Gemini, Kraken, KuCoin, OKX, WhiteBIT. For each we list the entity, country and regulator, verified against the ESMA register.
What is passporting?
A CASP licence from one EU member state automatically applies in all 27 EU countries and the EEA, so an exchange does not have to apply separately in each country.
Is Binance licensed in the EU (MiCA)?
As of the verification date Binance is not in the ESMA register as an authorised CASP; it has announced it is withdrawing its EU application and suspending EU services. Always check the current status in the ESMA register.
